Dry, cracked, itchy hands?  A SALVE is perfect for you, it is a a mixture of oil and beeswax that acts as a deeply moisturizing, healing emollient.  Also great for heels, elbows, knees and strangely enough it can be used as a light hair wax or pomade. 

Balm vs Salve. 

A salve is a softer (and initially a "oilier") consistency that is meant to allow them to penetrate the skin more deeply, and makes them great choices for healing of the skin that is already cracked or extremely dry.

A balm is a harder consistency that makes them a more protective, forming more of a barrier on the skin. Think car wax, it is there to protect the skin from the elements BEFORE cracking and excessive dryness kicks in.
